August 15, 2005

ATLANTA – August 15, 2005 – Atlanta-based AGL Resources (NYSE:ATG) today announced that the Meter Nuts from Atlanta Gas Light, a subsidiary, took first place during the 3rd annual AGL Resources Gas Rodeo competition in Riverdale, GA on Saturday, August 13. Two teams from another subsidiary, Virginia Natural Gas - Outside Force and Chesapeake Crabbers – came in second and third place respectively.

“The Gas Rodeo is becoming a summertime tradition for teams from all of the utilities at AGL Resources,” said Kevin Madden, executive vice president of distribution operations and external affairs. “Each of our teams from New Jersey to Florida gave it their all and in the process learned to appreciate and learn from each other.”

AGL Resources will send five teams to compete at the National Gas Rodeo on September 24 at Longacre Park in Fairview Heights, Illinois – near St. Louis. In addition to the Meter Nuts who will mark their third time at the national championship, the two Virginia teams will compete along with the Atlanta Gas Light Troubleshooters and the Chattanooga Wrenchslingers.

This will mark the third time AGL Resources has sent a team to the national competition. In 2002 and 2003 AGL Resources teams were crowned rodeo champions.

“The scores were so close this year,” said Charlie Clement, operations supervisor at Atlanta Gas Light’s Gwinnett Service Center and vice chair of the National Gas Rodeo Committee, “The competition was intense, but it was a great day of team building while family members were cheering and the children were being entertained by face painters and hoola hoop competition during breaks from the real action on the field.”

Some of Saturday’s events during the qualifying rounds included digging a 4-foot by 3-foot pit, cutting a 6-inch pipeline, building a meter set, and completing an above ground installation. The events were timed and took less than a minute to complete.
